Michael Haneke

Biography

An Austrian citizen, he was born in Munich, Germany, in 1942. He studied Philosophy, Psychology, and Theatre in Vienna. From 1973 to 1989, he worked in theatre and television. Since 1989, he has been a scriptwriter and director as well as a stage director. In 2001, Bafici did a retrospective on him and screened five of his films, including Benny’s Video (1992) and Funny Games (1997). The Time of the Wolf (’04) and Funny Games US (‘08) were also screened at the Festival.
