Synopsis

Francesca is a young teacher from Bucharest who wants to immigrate to Italy and set up a kindergarten for Rumanian children as soon as she saves enough money. However, the preparations for the journey are not easy: they include finding a job abroad through an agency, gathering enough money, getting the approval of her father –whose insults to Mussolini’s granddaughter (“Didn’t you hear that Mussolini whore? She wants every Romanian dead!”) offended the woman in question so much (supposedly the “whore” reference, not the racism issue) that she sued Paunescu–, saying goodbye to her friends and, the hardest one, dealing with her boyfriend and the shady businesses he’s into. Also, everyone remembers the recent events in Italy, where Romanians are being socially stigmatized and stereotyped as criminals. As she wanders through the city’s chaotic nightlife, Francesca will find no peace, not even when she’s sitting on the bus that will take her to meet her fate.
