Synopsis

Helena Ignez’s –one of Brazil’s most famous actresses and the widow of Rogério Sganzerla– first feature film revisits in its own way many of the recurrent topics in the work of the director of The Red Light Bandit. Poet and singer, Baal receives an invitation from Meck, a bussinessman, to a dinner in his honor. Sarcastically refusing the offer to ascend the social ladder, he affronts the guests and attracts Meck’s wife. Consciously choosing to be an outsider, a lover of life, Baal spends his days having affairs with beautiful women and one man, for whom he falls so madly in love that he virtually strangles him with jealousy. This cannibalistic music fable features the original voice of Bertolt Brecht and the interview with Einstein in Brazil, where the Theory of Relativity was proven.
