Synopsis

Once again, the setting is a circus in the outskirts of Rome, but now Covi and Frimmel get into more narrative territory. A woman who works there finds a two year-old girl with huge eyes who’s apparently been abandoned. Although her first intention is not to keep her, the days go by and the search –which she carries on with the help of her husband and a kid– doesn’t throw any data regarding the little one’s family. “The documentary approach is the most interesting thing to us in terms of filmmaking. You cannot stage what reality has to offer”. These are the filmmakers’ thoughts and that’s how they focus on the bond that grows between both women: the oldest one –a sort of Anna Magnani with a red hair that is as vibrant as her personality– and the little baby with her innate warmth. It’s a kind of new Neorealism, which provides a strong dosage of oxygen to the feeble scene of today’s Italian cinema.
