Synopsis
Halfway between landscaping and contemporary art, the work of Swiss architect Georges Descombes remains quite confidential. Very renowned in the landscaping world, especially in the USA and the Netherlands, he however stands apart from the current architecture scene. Carlos Lopez’s documentary sets to discover Descombes’ creations in Switzerland and in Europe in the company of the architect himself, or with some of his work companions, notably Dutch architect Herman Hertzberger and French landscaper Michel Corajoud. While exploring these urban or rural landscapes, new questions arise about the relationships the inhabitants hold with the realised projects or the status of architecture today –from prestigious international constructions to the daily constructions of our cities. Along the way, the peculiar path of Georges Descombes and his thought, as original as it is stimulating, intrigue us due to their high topicality.
