Synopsis
Without realizing it yet, a house wife who just turned fifty (María Onetto) is in search of a new meaning to her life. Her children are growing and her husband (Gabriel Goity) is on a different channel, busy with his hardware store. Jigsaw puzzles will be her excuse to –almost unwillingly– access a more sophisticated world: the one of a veteran player (Arturo Goetz) who’s looking for a tournament partner. The contrast will set the path for an intimate adventure that seems minimal but it actually isn’t. Such a simple story –which however manages to avoid all of the genre´s clichés– has allowed Natalia Smirnoff to make her directorial debut in the official competition of the Berlin Film Festival (after spending a decade as an assistant director for Lucrecia Martel, Alejandro Agresti and other directors). An unusual luxury, secretly linked to the plot of the film, which manages to express complexity out of simplicity and austerity.
