Synopsis

In January 2006, the million and a half people living in the Gaza Strip were placed under siege by the government of Israel, who had been occupying the area for the last four decades. This exceptional state of affairs deprived the population of the necessary supplies to cover the most basic human needs. When the six-month truce between Hamas and Israel expired on December 20th, 2008, the Israeli government shut down the access to Gaza, leaving out most Human Rights Organizations and members of the press. However, a group of international observers managed to slip inside the area. This film follows their work –and the one of journalists and sanitarian volunteers– and picks up a portion of what they were able to witness between December 25th, 2008 and January 16th, 2009: some searing footage of everyday life in the world of these victims of an uneven clash.
