Synopsis

In the Acapulco apartment where they spend their days, the old couple that stars in this thorough observational documentary creates its own microworld, which varies as the instabilities of old age set the course and gets interrupted once a year by the visit of the family for new year’s eve. The couple lives in a situation in which, although it seems to be progressively fading out, they manage to sustain by creating a wise cohabitation system (free from any nervous tension, but with plenty of life force). In that iridescent loneliness, shared and conspiratorial, where the future’s uncertainty makes any change feel like happiness and misfortune, Daniela Ludlow filters the camera with no voyeurism whatsoever, until it almost disappears within the still air of enclosure. This way, the editing and framing don’t seem to add anything; instead, they melt together in the hope that every detail would create a world where the real miracle of survival is possible.
