Laila Pakálnina
Born in Liepaja, Latvia, in 1962, she studied journalism and filmmaking in Moscow. Directed, among many others, the shorts The Oak (1997), Theodore (2006), Stones (2008), the medium-length film Three Men and a Fish Pond (2008; codirected with Maris Maskalans) and the features The Shoe (1998), The Python (2003) and The Hostage (2006), all of them screened at Bafici ’09.
