João Canijo

Born in Porto, Portugal, in 1957. He was assistant director of Manoel de Oliveira, Wim Wenders and Werner Schroeter, among others, before making his debut film Três menos eu (1988), which was followed by Filha da mãe (1989), Alentejo sem lei (1990), Sapatos pretos (1998), Ganhar a vida (2000), Noite escura (2004) and Mal nascida (2007). He also directs Theatre and TV.
