Jacques Doillon

Jacques Doillon (1944) is a remarkably humanistic scriptwriter and director from France. In 1979, Doillon was nominated for two César awards for his psychological drama The Hussy, and his 1984 film La pirate was a Golden Palm nominee at the Festival of Cannes.
His 1990 film Le Petit Criminel, about the life of a troubled teenager, received several César award nominations.
After his success with the film Le Jeune Werther (1993), the director scored his biggest international hit to date with the drama Ponette (1996), which tells the story of a four-year-old girl trying to overcome the harsh reality of her mother’s sudden and tragic death.
Ponette won the hearts of viewers around the world and brought Doillon international acclaim.
His last film, Le Mariage a Trois (2010), will be screened in this edition of the BAFICI.
