Jean Marie Straub

He was born in Metz, France, in 1933. He studied Literature and worked as an assistant director for filmmakers like Gance, Renoir and Bresson. Together with Danièle Huillet, they made films such as Machorka-Muff (1963), Moses and Aaron (1968), Black Sin (1988) and Antigone (1991), all included in the Focus of their work held by Bafici ’09. Following the death of Huillet, he directed Le Streghe, femmes entre elles (2009; Bafici ’10).
