Synopsis

A story: a girl on her twenties decides to spice with a little excitement her anonymous, grey and lonely life. Pursuing that, she goes out to find a partner, not necessarily the right one (nor the most attractive or the most interesting one), but anyone who comes in hand, which is not much. An auteur: Jacques Doillon’s first film in five years is a perfect continuation of the lines explored by his work for nearly forty years; the painstaking work in the dialogues, the tension arousing from millimetre gestures, the glances and the words surrounding this world of comically dramatic characters, idiosyncratically Doillonians. One conclusion: Just Anybody may be described as a twistedly orchestrated, brilliant film about love, in which every conversation manages to finish in its exact opposite, to escape to the less travelled place, a place imagined and never experienced.
