Synopsis
“If I had to start over my life from scratch, I would manage to get everything I have now”, said Herbert Vianna with a rocker’s arrogance but no pose, in 1987. Two decades later, the frontman of Os Paralamas do Sucesso (part of the “sacred quartet of Brazilian rock“, alongside Barão Vermelho, Titãs and Legião Urbana) looks at those images from a wheelchair, and smiles. In 2001, the ultralight plane he was flying–a passion he inherited from his father, an Air Force member– crashed into the sea, killing his wife and he leaving him hemiplegic after a three months coma. Using rare or unseen material (childhood home movies, the first shows, the hard rehabilitation, the gig for their hospital mates…) and interviews with family and friends where the word “miracle” is a temptation overcome by humor and sincere affection, Hebert de perto builds a double biography. One that stars twice from scratch and corrects that fake sad ending in the Mangaratiba Sea in order to tell how Vianna didn’t get everything back, but he did get some of the things he had in his other life.
