Synopsis
One year ago, the festival programmed many films by Marie Losier, including a short film dedicated to Genesis P-Orridge, an iconic character from the underground scene who created industrial music with his two bands, Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye is Losier’s first full-length film, in which she manages to make Genesis’ fascinating life and career coexist with the absolutely unique love story between him and Lady Jaye, his wife for almost fifteen years. What’s really impressive in Losier’s style is that sort of magic dying all of her images. Like heroes in a punk fairy tale, Gen and Jaye never cease to amaze us. ¿What are some of the reasons? La Pandrogine, the couple’s most ambitious project: using cosmetic surgery, Gen and Jaye intended to fuse together forming a new entity that would be free from the “carnal baggage” of the human body. The Ballad… is, precisely, a merging love story that shows how two people can turn their lives into a work of art capable of challenging both the idea of beauty and death itself.
