Synopsis
Elisa Miller’s debut film features the intimate story of a personal trip by a young Mexican girl who goes to Buenos Aires to find herself away from her hometown. In this new city, Alicia takes trapeze lessons and faces the fear of performing its typical moves. And yet, nothing seems to stop her on her journey: she decides to go even further and travels to El Calafate. Two things happen there: on one hand, the trip becomes more introspective, due to the use of Super 8 footage to express her own perceptions; on the other, the film clears up the room for a new relationship with a young Argentine man (a very precise performance by Martín Piroyansky) and the use of video format to narrate these encounters. This combination between the lead character’s own spaces and those that are totally strange to her –like a completely unknown and far landscape next to an almost stranger young man– is where Miller seems to find the dynamics for her film and present, in a very personal way, this journey of initiation into adult life.
