Synopsis
Morir de día could have been a new episode in the life of Joaquim Jordà and his amazing ability to explain the world through his own past. Since the author of De nens past away during pre-production, the project was inherited by Laia Manresa and Sergi Dies, who made it their own and delivered one of the most lucid and personal love compliments to historical revisionism applied to 1970s Spain that we can remember. At the heart of the documentary lays the introduction of heroine into Spain during the final Franco years; the way it settles in gauche divine Catalonia like a substance that at that time wasn’t associated to lumpen life, and was an artificial paradise only for the wealthy. And then, with the transition comes its forward escape, the breakdown, the marginality, the persecution, the first deaths, the ultimate failure of a life-style that can never become permanent, and the end of a utopia that accepts as inevitable those words spoken by Vicente Aleixandre: “I want to die during the day, when the lions love, when butterflies fly over the lakes…”
