Synopsis
With a surprising domain of cinematographic language to create atmospheres and a subtle description of situations using genre elements but constantly escaping conventions, Géraldine Bajard’s first film is set on a mysterious town: Beauval. That’s where a young doctor from Paris named François and her beautiful young wife move in so he can begin his practice. His arrival gathers the attention of Beauval’s kids and teenagers, who practice a series of dangerous games, apparently as part of a necessary ritual to break the monotony of the place. Girls will try to approach him through seduction, young men will do it through challenging and provoking him, until an accident changes the town’s life as well as François: 12 year-old Agnès gets run over in the middle of a road by someone who flees the scene. The event triggers an even more perverse game played by gang of teenagers: accusing François. You could say that’s the starting point for another, even more gripping film.
