Synopsis
Last year, Bafici held a retrospective of Rogério Sganzerla, one of the founders of the so-called marginal cinema that sprung in Brazil in the early ‘70s as an alternative to cinema novo. His first feature was the memorable The Red Light Bandit (1968), a crazy story about a thief that followed Warhol’s prophecy and acquired pop star status. Sganzerla died in 2004 and left a finished script for a sequel his muse and widow Helena Ignez later completed with the help of filmmaker Ícaro Martins, her daughter Djin, and his son-in-law André Guerreiro Lopes. The story, now in color, features a son Luz (an unrecognizable Ney Matogrosso) had with a fan who visited him in prison, as he finds out his father is a celebrity. He soon decides to continue his father’s path and become the terror of São Paulo neighbors using the pseudonym Tudo-ou-Nada. Soon after that, his adventures will start to appear on the news wires, as if the fame years of Luz Vermelha were a continuing and disturbing present.
