Synopsis
Pequeña Orquesta Reincidentes (they were just “Reincidentes” until 2000) was a force of remarkable artistic originality in the Argentine music scene of the last two decades. With atypical instruments, like tubas and mandolins, they connected several music traditions –tango, folklore, Center European music, French chanson– with the visceral, dense and nocturnal pulse of rockers the likes of Nick Cave. They recorded memorable albums like Miguita de pan and ¿Qué sois ahora? They played even more memorable gigs. And one day, they quietly disappeared. Intrigued by their silence, Goldgrob and Galuppo started from a laconic e-mail from May 2008 in which the band announced “Friends, we have to tell you POR no longer exists”, and rebelled against the indifference and lack of memory that are usual in local rock. And, far from any conventions, they manufacture a polyphonic story with different visual textures that avoids talking heads (the POR members only speak out in the end) and maintains the most essential: images of happy years, songs, and the voices of those who don’t forget, because they keep the Reincidentes in their hearts.
