Synopsis
Ismini is around thirty. She has a boyfriend, but he’s not everything to her. She’s a teacher and also takes care of a kid who loves her although she’s not his mother. Ismini is beautiful and delicate, but her emotional life is fragile. Haris is a simple driver with a not so attractive body. But he smiles, has true emotional grit, and is the most persistent person you can find. And Harisma, this film, is a Greek romantic comedy that sets up the usual boy-meets-girl story (or rather, girl who has no choice but to give the boy a chance) with the genre’s typical speed and bubbling spirit as well as some singular traces on both its characters and its sexual honesty. Sunny and pleasant, the fun surface of Christina Ioakeimidi’s debut film hides its good portion of neurosis and urban loneliness: the usual materials for a romantic comedy based on a couple of opposites.
