Synopsis
The truth about men. The hyperbolic title is yet another game played by this fast Danish comedy. Truth… well, the truth is the one searched (at least according to him) by Mads Christiansen, a married writer of churning TV shows who is pressed by his wife to “form a family”. And so, Mads leaves everything and goes out to look for his own truths: lots of women, a much younger girlfriend, and attempts to write “whatever he wants”. The film aims high on the meaning of life of young adults who want to stress only the first word of that description (they’re called the Peter Pan generation). It also knows how to avoid tripping of with the temptation of lecturing: here there are no scriptwriting or life recipes; instead, there are good reflections on the making of a fiction (like the main character, the film’s director has an extensive career as a scriptwriter), narrative fluidness, Nordic sex, and sharp notes building a bittersweet storytelling that finds the proper tone in order to speak about sentimentalities without any sentimentalism.
