Synopsis
The faces of several young Germans –who left their family homes early to live on the streets, both temporarily and definitively– shine in penetrating black and white against the background of an undetermined empty space. Taking these nine lives the film portrays the particulars of each story and at the same time reveals common aspects between them without venturing to define any patterns. These common aspects come to the surface through the deep pain and hate behind their family histories, as well as through the vitality and talent to manifest them both ideologically and aesthetically. Through an artistic concept –especially the music treatment– and the appropriation of the body as an element prone to get forced in the search for its liberation, Maria Speth (director of Madonnen, screened at Bafici 2007) minds every detail of her new film and never looses sight of her final bet on an open dialogue capable of highlighting the singularities in every gesture.
