With the screening of La dernière année by Peter Hoffman (photo) at Hoyts 8, the marathon of feature and short films begins this Thursday at 11.00 am and runs through Sunday 17. Part of the festival’s major attractions can be found on this first full day of screenings at the Hoyts General Cinema Abasto, the theatres of Museo de Arte Latinoamericano (MALBA), Teatro San Martín and Alianza Francesa, the cinemas Cine Teatro 25 de Mayo as well as Cosmos UBA, Atlas Santa Fe and Arteplex Belgrano. These venues will screen films by Martin Scorsese, Jean Luc Godard, Néstor Frenkel, Alberto Fuget, Anocha Suwichakornpong, Abbas Kiarostami, Elia Kazan, Sean Connery, Sérgio Borges, Federico Velroij, and Leopoldo Torre Nilson, among other outstanding names, as part of a packed high-profile programme.

Tickets for screenings that are not yet sold out can be purchased through the website www.festivales.gob.ar and at the box office of each of the aforementioned venues. Tickets cost 12 pesos each, which is much cheaper than the current price in the commercial circuit. Another reason to get into the universe of BAFICI, which is running as of today.
