Gary Burns

Born in Alberta, Canada, in 1960, he studied dramatic art at the University of Calgary and Fine Arts at the Concordia University. He directed five films: The Suburbanators (1995), Kitchen Party (1997; Best New Director at the Vancouver Film Festival), Waydowntown (2000; Best Canadian Film at the Toronto Film Festival), A Problem with Fear (2003), Radiant City (2006; screened in Bafici ’07 and winner of the Special Jury Prize in Vancouver) and The Future Is Now! (2010) –the last two were co-directed with Jim Brown.
All of them are screened in the retrospective of his work Bafici is holding this year.
