Fred Zinnemann

Born in Vienna, in what was then the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, in 1907, he studied Law before settling in the US and directing, among others, High Noon (1952; four Oscars), From Here to Eternity (1953) and Julia (1977; two Oscars). He died in 1997 in London, England.
