Synopsis

Torben is an almost perfect apple. Like every other apple, his ideal scenario is getting to be a catalog apple and shine mouthwateringly on a supermarket shelve. But his plans get interrupted when he finds a worm living inside of him. Terrified of infection, the other apples throw him off the tree. Newton, a pear who lives in the same apple tree convinced he’s an apple (Species Identity Disorder?) goes along with him since he’s also being discriminated. On the way, Torben faces the fear of giving up his life’s goal and is forced to find another one. Discrimination, the fear of not fitting in, and human (fruit) relationships, are some of the issues revolving around this story. Issues that Morgenthaler organizes with humor and clarity leaving room for them to be discussed: “How can you enjoy life when you’re always trying to get the most out of it?”. Addressed to both kids and adults with childlike souls, this film breaks away with the model previously followed by the director of Princess and delivers a luminous and instructive ending.
