Synopsis

Jan Kaplický was not just one of the biggest architects in the Czech Republic: the ideas he had for his country also made him a visionary. These ideas placed him at the core of a public battle regarding his most personal and controversial project: the new Prague Public Library, which was baptized with the name “The Eye Over Prague”. Kaplický was applying all of his originality, talent and groundbreaking spirit in this work which was clearly ahead of its time, and lead to a long conflict with different sectors of Czech society. Shot in three years (in England, Italy, and the Czech Republic), this documentary follows the professional and personal life of one of the men who defined the way one of the most captivating cities in the world is regarded today; something he did by defending his ideas and philosophy all the way to its unpredictable and sad end.
