Synopsis

The El Mate Film Workshop was founded by Irene Blei and Lucía Cano as an open free school of film, video and animation for kids and young adults, and it has been sustained through 24 years of prolific and uninterrupted activity. The Workshop is pioneering as groundbreaking in style, creating and experimenting with its own production criteria, and maintaining a dialog with ideas from different generations that has made it possible to develop through the years a boundless aesthetic, conceptual and narrative range. This Little Bafici focus centers on a selection of animated works in different techniques and formats that go from stop motion to varied cartoons and from Super 8 to digital video, in order to make a historical tour but also to put perspective the possibilities and vigorous visions which seem to have very few creative limits during childhood and youth. And it also reveals, perhaps involuntarily, the conventions and rigid nature commanding adult representations.

The "El Mate" Film Workshop functions under the orbit of the Vicente López City Hall’s Secretary of Culture, Education, Sports and Tourism.
