Bio

André de Margerie, born in 1951 in Paris. Following a post as Deputy Commercial Adviser in the French Embassy in Kabul (1976-1977), he worked as a Project Manager in the Ministry of Environment and in the Public Service Radio France (1982-1986). After being in charge of corporate sponsoring for the multimedia company Havas, he worked for the Committee for the Celebration of the Bicentenary of the French Revolution. In 1981, he joined the European cultural TV channel, ARTE, as Advisor to the President and Director of Cultural Development. Since April 2004, he has been the Director of International Relations of ARTE France.
