Synopsis
So what? It’s OK to be fat, bold, and short –like the title says– even if you think that is everything. Because you may very well think –as Mr. Farfán does in the film– that well, if you’re doing like you’re doing, you can only blame you genes, and that’s it. Until, suddenly, we find out that there’s a colleague who is fatter, bolder, and shorter, and he’s doing great. So, then? Then you have to go out to the world and find out that it is a fantastic, complex, hard, and exciting place, and that you are what you are and you don’t lack anything to be able to live in it. An example of animation in perfect tuning with its theme, there’s a devastating power in the simple drawings of the characters and the hallucinated (hallucinating) realism of the backgrounds and the urban landscape, recreated (that’s the right term) by an eye that tries to understand its creatures. This is one of those films dictated by the need to yell at us that every fable is a fantasy, and that fantasy is a need of the spirit. Or that the body, whatever it may be like, is just another product of fantasy.
