Synopsis
It’s the year 1987 in Czechoslovakia, and a family who had been separated is now trying to reunite and connect from afar in a hidden, prohibited way. Václav Kadrnka uses his own memory of that time and the rescued letters his mother used to send to his father when he was already in England. Her mother is strong, firm; she’s the powerful letter he rescues for this story. That’s how he sees her, as a tireless fighter who tries everything and fulfills all the requirements to get the family back together again. On the other side is his father –absent, away, in silence– and with him, the wound of a broken family that hopes to become one and be normal again. This way, the film is made from the eye of a young man who approaches adulthood while experiencing the unstoppable fear of those situations: his parents’, his own, adult life, and the notion of being clandestine.
