Synopsis
Clip allows us for once to make use with some justification the reference to Andrés Calamaro’s album Brutal Honesty. Maja Milos’ first film is a story of teenagers –and these teens are not artificially sweetened nor concerned on being the best athlete or cheerleader. They have problems that trouble them, and lead them from one unease sentiment to the other. Different anxieties, even sexual: How can they get a hold of themselves? The theme of erotic pictures shared on the internet is very present in current cinema. Yet, Clip goes beyond that. In the same direction as Nicola Lezaic’s Tilva Ros but mainly Larry Clark and Edward Lachman’s Ken Park (both screened in previous Bafici editions), Clip offers a non-judgmental insight. A frontal look: with lots of explicit sex, drugs, and violence. The movie focuses on Jasna, played by the astonishing Isidora Simijonovic. Jasna is a hurricane that escapes forward whenever she faces trouble. Clip is, of course, a story about maturity; i.e., another story regarding how we manage to face the pain of growing up and approaching death. Clip faces these challenges with head-on authenticity.
