Synopsis

Ever since his first film Resfriada, Gonzalo Castro has been making cinema outside the usual validation institutions: he never went to film school, he doesn’t have a crew, and he edits at home what he records in his digital camera. The artifice in his films does not come from complicated camera moves or production stunts, but from capturing real moments triggered by fiction. With Dioramas, his approach to reality strips down as never beforEdición: there is practically no action or characters in the classic sense, and he just records a series of dance classes in which the students learn to reflect on their movements. The everyday lives of two students express the process of unlearning a series of unconscious acts and the search for another way to relate physically with space. But here it is not about creating conflict, but comparing one scene with the other, watching them from the very creation of its internal movement, and diving into the constant becoming of shapes.
