Synopsis
The Alps have stood there for thousands of years, either like the protagonists or the back setting for all kinds of situations and characters. And their close relationship with cinema shaped up our imagery thanks to such diverse samples as Grand Illusion or The Sound of Music. Alpi is a research on the presence of that landscape that forms and joins together many different nations, just like a nod. The film moves with absolute freedom in time and space through forty different locations recorded all through seven years. A Bollywood shoot, demonstrations against a tunnel that would connect France and Italy, the Davos summit, ski practices, weather labs, and other fragments –they all form a single unity that presents itself with the aim of drawing a union through order, and yet never ceases to amaze us by providing meaning to a naturally huge and chaotic space.
