Synopsis
Practically the entire second half of Cocaine Cowboys dealt with the most bloodthirsty protagonist of Miami drug wars: Griselda Blanco. As Entertainment Weekly described her without exaggerating one bit, she was “a murdering Colombian ‘Godmother’ that makes Scarface’s Tony Montana look like Mother Theresa”. This new dive into documenting that underworld, as dangerous as film addictive, starts far away from the city Blanco flooded with cocaine and blood in the early 80’s. The year is 1991. The placEdición:Oakland, in California. That’s where Charles Cosby lived, a small crack dealer who used to make a few thousand dollars a week without much effort. Until he wrote a letter to the Godmother, who he worshipped after seeing her on the TV broadcast of her trial and sentence. Six months later, Cosby was a multi-millionaire. Not only was he managing Blanco’s drug business, he had also become her lover. The only thing he didn’t know yet –but was about to learn in the worst way– was that Griselda Blanco had many other nicknames, including “the Black Widow”.
