Synopsis
According to Catholic mythology God rested on the seventh day, and that’s why Sunday is sanctified as a luminous day consecrated to the sun. With a somewhat reprobate spirit since he gets along just fine with heresy, Jim Finn doesn’t rest, and even tackles utopia once again by observing it with his unique perplexity, which results in the unexpected films we’re now accustomed to. All the false documentary and comedy elements on his films are now the opposite, through a lucid dialogue with theologian and economist Franz Hinkelammert, a paradoxical, wise hermit who settled in San José, Costa Rica, where he founded the Ecumenical Research Department. Finn’s witness eye travels to the origin of a theory that stands on the “theology of liberation” in order to reinterpret the last years of universal history of political and social-economical iniquity, focusing on Allende’s Chile, Reagan, the connection between the US and Latin America, false utopias, and several other ideological wanderings of contemporary culture.
