Synopsis
For a lot of people, Internet has become a confession room. Or an endless complaint log. You can read unelaborated and aggressive comments about anything. But Dominic Gagnon is not searching the web for the mediocre, but for the extraordinary, remarkable and disturbing. So, just like his previous work RIP in Pieces America, Pieces and Love All to Hell is a collage made out with fragments of webcam broadcasts that were removed from several platforms for their controversial or too explicit content. The location: the US. The issues: fear of the future, the country’s decadence, overpopulation, lack of real men. And what lies beneath all that, perhaps, are rage, violence, guns, prejudice, and paranoia. There’s a strange magnetism in these enraged declarations, which range from an iron logic to more crazy examples. And there’s also the knowledge that these voices are censored, taken off circulation on the web. Pieces and Love All to Hell is one of those films that leave spectators excited, agitated, with a lot of questions and something we might call “sociologic adrenaline”.
