Synopsis
How does one make a documentary about a band that doesn’t exist anymore? Francisco Forbes tackled that big problem with Lost Alamo, his second biographical documentary after approaching dead Colombian writer Andrés Caicedo in Noche sin fortuna, co-directed together with Álvaro Cifuentes. It’s easy to understand why Forbes recorded Los Alamos’ ephemeral winter reunion tour through Chile and Argentina in 2009, which marks the narration of the film. Los Alamos was a band that gave some wild shows throughout the last decade in Buenos Aires. Their curly-haired singer and leader Peter tells us why he moved with his family to Marseille in search of prosperity and, after a European tour, how reincarnated bands Springlizard, Los Palos Borrachos and Val Veneto blossomed in Buenos Aires. A mission accomplished by Forbes: he captured part of that elusive charm of the live band and can also take credit for this new awakening by Los Alamos, who (attention!) are going to make an explosive presence in the stages of Buenos Aires around these days.
