Synopsis
Comedy, tango and emotion mix together in a film that aims to reveal the hidden soul of Buenos Aires through the eyes of some of the most renowned artists of Argentine animation and graphics. In the style of New York Stories, the film by Scorsese, Coppola and Allen, the four stories featured in Ánima Buenos Aires reflect the different sides and corners of the city through the original aesthetic approaches of Caloi, Nine, Pablo Rodríguez Jauregui and Florencia and Pablo Faivre. Drawing animated choreographies on the Buenos Aires walls, a dance couple created by Juan Pablo Zaramella and Mario Rulloni connects the chapter. They are inhabited by tango legends looking for their dreamed girl, neighborhood butchers overwhelmed by competition, teenagers who use their love to paint the city with colors, and dying criminals. Animation in 2D, collage and photomontage, animated stencils, and even some live action is combined with an exquisite humor, absurdity, and poetry, in order to create an extraordinary plastic and conceptually rich film.
