Synopsis
The week before Christmas, little Pietari was alone with his father –who happened to own a reindeer slaughterhouse– when he found out the truth about Santa Claus. But the real truth; not that other one that says that the man with the presents is a fantasy invented by us, or by a certain soft drink. No. What Pietari finds in the camp set by American scientists to explore the surroundings of his home is double and, somehow, complimentary: a) Santa Claus is not fat and b) Santa Claus is not nice, either. In this prequel of his previous short films (the multi-awarded Rare Exports, Inc. and Rare Exports: Official Safety Instructions, which have more than a million viewers on YouTube), Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander leaves aside the comic emphasis and builds a dry cold horror story that’s set in the darkest and more twisted side of the parody genre. The one you hope will eventually relax and release some tension, which rarely happens.
