Synopsis
In She’s a Very Nice Lady, the closing episode in Courant’s tetralogy Le Jardin de Abymes, he plays a time-overlap game and travels to the United States to join an homage to Gene Tierney with the music of Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Barbra Streisand, Richard Wagner, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. “Two New York women: Kristin and Doreen. A life in black and white with the color of Gene Tierney –a Hollywood melodrama star from the 40’s– go from one extreme to another (from dream to reality, day to night, color to black and white) while listening to Marilyn Monroe´s old songs. Kristin disappears and Doreen looses herself in the big city. Her encounters with Marcel, (a filmmaker) and later on with David (a sculptor) get them nowhere and this sense of timelessness is destroyed by the light of day. Their memory of Gene Tierney triumphs over night and death, and cinema may continue”.
