Synopsis
Always spontaneous but committed to a vision that surprises us with its rigor, Grant Gee’s shorts are nothing but feature films compressed into a couple of minutes. Better said, they are a thousand things at once, all of them with a particular use of time. They’re abstract films (Spooky: Found Sound and its collage-editing of independent images), essays (400 Anarchists and its historical exposition as a hyperkinetic Power Point presentation), documentaries (Mr. Fred Zentner’s Cinema Bookshop Was Here and its direct portrait), poems (The Western Lands and its lyrical scenery). These four shorts directed by Gee –a small pocket-size constellation– talk about films, music, music in films, social life, and lonesome life, always with the same passion for a medium that, far from limiting him, seems to expand his creative horizons.
