Synopsis

Carlos Gutiérrez is the last Elvis. Not just because he is a Southern Cone Elvis, but because he is just like Elvis was at the end: physically unfit, fat, sweaty, bad-tempered. But he’s also a passionate man in complete control of his histrionic manners. Carlos works in a factory and also as an Elvis impersonator in weddings and other events. But Carlos is not the worker; or even Carlos: he is Elvis. He eats what Elvis used to eat, watches nothing on the TV but the King’s shows, and experiences his admiration and personification as an unbreakable obsession. Carlos is also a divorced parent with a daughter who is, obviously, named Lisa Marie. He has plans. But there’s also reality. Armando Bo’s first film features a character and an actor who are both hard to forget, with a remarkable narrative confidence that dares to show profound emotions and still remain modest. There aren’t many films like The Last Elvis, in which a debutant filmmaker has the courage to handle crucial topics with such determination.
