Synopsis

Writing and arranging songs, using synthesizers, and the indie and lo-fi spirits are not restricted to young, good looking hipsters. Sigrídur Níelsdóttir is a fresh and curious 70 year-old lady who decided that instead of beginning to say farewell to her life, she could record her own songs and edit them at home. Soon after that, restless Sigrídur had already finished 59 albums with over 600 songs. She is a cult phenomenon in Iceland for a selected group of musicians, amongst which you can find the members of the renowned band Múm and the directors of this film. A possible grandmother for Daniel Johnston, Sigrídur was filmed for a period of 8 years in formats that stay close to her art, such as Super 8 and 16mm. The film depicts this woman in daily situations in a poetic and light way, documenting her working method while musicians pay her honors by playing her songs and transforming them into small works of art that have an inevitable appeal.
