Synopsis

It doesn’t take long for La memoria del muerto to dive into a horror atmosphere from which there will be no return. Even if the one who literally dives into an empty pool in the horrifying first sequence is Puma Goity’s character Jorge –yes, La memoria del muerto is, among other things, a rare and remarkable example of local horror cinema featuring well known actors. Soon we’ll find out that epic skull fracture is only part of a nightmare, one that bites its own tale, because when Alicia (Lola Berthet) wakes up, her husband is actually agonizing. The balance between reality and hallucination, ghosts and psychos, black magic and earthly crimes, starts to get more pronounced. There is a posthumous letter calling up for a meeting of Jorge’s dearest friends; a shared night in a house that turns into a branch from hell, mysterious rituals, and sinister apparitions. And also lots of deaths, well-crafted special effects, and plot twists that lead to a surprisingly happy end –as long as we don’t consider the amount of bloodshed.
