In this film the small French town of Saint-Marcellin, in the region of Isère, is portrayed through a particular method: recorded in a single fixed 20-second shot, the 127 streets and 17 public squares are featured in alphabetical order. This is how notable director Gérard Courant depicts his childhood town in A travers l’univers, which will be screened today, Sunday (please check times and venue).

Gérard Courant is a director, actor and author. The son of writer and historian Rene Courant, Gérard is one of the most prolific filmmakers of recent times, apart from being a poet and an independent producer. Starting in the 1970s, he has shot over 4000 portrait-films and completed an extensive list of other cinematic projects.
