Synopsis

From figurative to abstract art, from performative action to reflection, from homage to protest cry, all the films by Narcisa Hirsch that form this program manage to imprison the conflicted forces of her univers to burst on the screen the possible map of a polymorphic, unclassifiable work. Thus, the program features women who amputate their breasts (Ama-zona) and others who are remembered by the filmmaker (Para Virginia). There’s a creative and sentimental story (A Dios), and strictly cinematographic explorations (Señales de vida) that converse with Hirsch’s attentive eye for human behavior (Homecoming). A program made with huge short films, and although is thematically diverse, it’s joined by the sustained force of that expansive, oceanic vision that has always been typical of this filmmaker.
