Miguel Gomes

Bio

He was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1972. He studied at the Film and Theater School of Lisbon and worked as a film critic between 1996 and 2000. The Bafici ‘09 held a retrospective of his work that included short films like Entretanto (1999), Inventário de Natal (2000) and Cântico das criaturas (2006), as well as his first film The Face You Deserve (2004). Also in 2009, his second film Our Beloved Month of August won the International Competition. His most recent work, Tabu –premiered and awarded at the Berlinale– is screened in the section Careers.
