Preview LA TIERRA Y LA LUNA

In 2007, a sound engineer and a cameraman arrived in Corvo, the smallest island in the Azores archipelago, right in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The village of 440 inhabitants gave their welcome to the small filming crew, who got to gradually meet the 500-year-old civilization, whose history is hardly discernible as it has almost no written records. This is the main focus of E na Terra nao e na Lua, by Portuguese director Gonçalo Tocha, to be screened today, on the Festival’s last day. Tickets are available for purchase at the Festival’s ticket outlets and on this website.

In the 2012 edition of BAFICI, E na Terra nao e na Lua won Best Film in the Cinema of the Future competition. Its director, Gonçalo Tocha, earned a BA in Portuguese Language and Culture from Lisbon’s School of Liberal Arts. His first film, Balaou (2007), received two awards at the Festival Indielisboa and was selected for the Viennale, Vancouver and BAFICI.
